Where you are attending a Notarial appointment to have the swear/affirm an affidavit, complete a power of attorney or to have your execution of a document verified by a Notary Public it is important you bring along official picture identification (passport, driving licence etc) with you so the Notary can confirm your identity.
Where the Notary is verifying your execution of a document it is important not to sign the document beforehand; it needs to be signed before the Notary so that the Notary is able to confirm it was signed before them by you.
If you have any uncertainty about what needs to be done it is worthwhile emailing a scanned copy of the document(s) to the Notary beforehand so that they are able check the documents and ensure that everything that needs to be done can be done at your appointment.
If the Notary is certifying documents as being a true copy of the original it will be necessary for the Notary to see the original document so that they are able confirm that the copy is indeed a true and accurate copy.
Generally our Notarial charges are based on the number of notarial acts (each signature and seal applied by the Notary) and are charged at £65 per notarial act. If the service being provided is more involved than a relatively simple notarial act (including providing an opinion or similar) the cost will be charged on the basis of the amount of time taken plus disbursements. Our hourly rate is £600 per hour and is charged in 6 minute units.
